Who Am I?

My name is Paul Hambrick, and I was born in Marietta, Ga and grew up in thatPFH great state until I joined the Army at 17 years old.

While in the Army, I spent my entire contract in Korea because the first Gulf War had broken out, and they weren't letting anyone leave.

After fulfilling my contract, I went to school for two years, took a short break for two years, finished my degree and then went to chiropractic school.

My whole reason for going to chiropractic school was to be an upper cervical chiropractor.  I had grown up going to chiropractors, and I thought it was OK, it made me feel better, but ultimately I thought they were just glorified masseuses.

My sister worked at Life University in the financial aid department, and met a young man there who was entering the chiropractic school.  His name was Stan Pierce, a soon to be 4th generation chiropractor, and that's 4 generations of upper cervical doctors.

When my sister started dating him, my mom was thrilled because she always wanted a chiropractor in the family, and I remember them discussing the way Stan's dad practiced.  She said he practiced a specialty that dealt primarily with the first bone in the spine.  Every nerve in the body passed through that bone, so if it was out, it could cause problems all over the entire nervous system, affecting the whole body.

I remember thinking to myself, "Now that makes sense... kinda like the main circuit breaker of the body."

Due to an injury I received while in Korea, I had chronic low back pain that progressed into severe sciatica pain intermittently.  I would get adjusted regularly by my current full spine doctor, but I never got more than just very temporary relief.

When Stan started student clinic, to help him out, I became one of his patients.  I was really suffering from low back pain and sciatica, at the time, and I couldn't wait to see what his "style" of adjusting would do for me.

We went through the whole process, and he had to modify his approach quite a bit because there was only a life upper cervical instrument to adjust me with - the old kind that looked like a torture rack - but he gave me that first adjustment... and when I sat up... I had no pain... no pain at all anywhere.

I couldn't believe it because when I laid down on my side to get the adjustment, I was hurting, and when I sat up, I felt awesome!

I was sold.

After a few months, I decided that I had to do this for a living.

I was in my senior year of college at the time, and as soon as I graduated, I enrolled at Life University with the sole intent of becoming an upper cervical chiropractor.

I was attending technique modules even while I was still in pre-reqs.

By my 4th quarter, I was the president of the AO club, and boosted membership quite a bit for the very short period I was the president.

I practiced only upper cervical while in student clinic (very difficult to do that, but I managed), and I graduated in 2002.

Next, How I started Practicing
